Gown Glory

Lately, its been an influx of gown overload. With Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Grammys and now the Oscars, everyone has been in gown glory. I was inspired to identify the juxtaposition between the beauty of the ultimate night out and the everyday world. You can always dress a women up, take them out of the reality of daily life, but if you left her there, what would that look like. I love the fantasy and the romance of stepping into an alternate space only for awhile, but when we lose sight of what is real, we are left with nothing at all. Prom, homecoming, a wedding, these are all moments in which we suspend belief and have a cinderella-esque experience, and don’t get me wrong, it should be everything a women dreamed of and more. I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge that these moments are indeed to be cherished. If they aren’t and we expect them to serve as the norm, the pricelessness of them, become mundane and we will be left stranded.
