While vacationing in Cancun this Thanksgiving, I decided to, along with Jesse to trek an hour and half outside of the touristy beaches to the city of Tulum. Here the Mayan city lays tucked against the glorious backdrop of the Caribbean waters and picturesque Jungle. Follow me inside and get a glimpse of the ancient Mayan ruins!
What looks like a quiet stretch of elevated land off the sea, quickly turns into a secret and ancient World made many centuries ago in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Once you take the tree lined hike up 45 feet and enter a stone arched tunnel, you begin entry into the Mayan land!
The stone made ruins compose this ancient city, filled with temples and palaces and enough history to compile a history lesson. Every etching, every nook a well thought out meaning.
The preservation of the ruins in Tulum is impeccable. Great pride and heritage comes from the ideology of this community.
The structure of this ancient city holds up well in modern times. They Mayans were smart and savvy.
Every building with its own purpose. This village was a functioning home in a community that ruled the area.
Glorious.
And as you take the walk you come to an opening on the cliffs, where the ocean opens. It use to be the port. The view is like a postcard!
