It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas

As a Jewish girl from Texas, with a Catholic father, we always felt it appropriate to celebrate both holidays. And in the spirit of Christmas this post is dedicated to my dad. My father always wanted to make us feel comfortable while incorporating some of his favorite traditions. The first being: the evening before Christmas opening stockings. The stockings were small necessities and fun bits from everyone in the family and “Santa” was reserved for the morning after with the big anonymous gifts. I loved having that moment to spend with my brother and parents finding the perfect gifts for each of them and secretly filling their stockings. Sitting around a fire, after having looked at all the neighborhood lights, we would open one by one the gifts from each other. It was always a special and intimate moment. It still to this day is my favorite holiday tradition.
