There are the designers we all know and love, the ones who need no introduction: Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, Gianni Versace. They are cemented into fashion history. A legacy stands behind them. There are the up and comers; the ones to watch, so to speak: Ricardo Tisci, Alexander Wang, Oliver Rousting. They are transforming fashion and creating a modern take on the industry. And then, there are the designers we don’t know, the ones who do what they love almost anonymously in return for little praise. Enter Raif Adelberg, a Canadian designer responsible for the original creative design of Wings + Horns and his self titled collection Raif Adelberg which launched S/S 13. With his great regard for knitwear, his line was critically acclaimed, yet short lived. Finding and rooting on these unknown designers is key to help build a fashion industry that is diverse and versatile. Don’t forget Raif.
