New York Fashion Week Beauty Round Up!

There’s so much inspiration over the course of New York Fashion Week. It seems like the fashionable and ultimate street style stars can seamlessly take the “of the moment” trends straight off the runway. The real test for me though, is how to take the runway beauty tricks – whether bold and daring or fresh faced – from NYFW into your everyday makeup routine.

The plum and dark lips of the DKNY show were re-vamped at the hands of famed makeup artist, Pat McGrath, with her signature glitter lip. This trend may not seem wearable at first, but I love the heightened drama of an ultra bold, stand-out lip for a special occasion.

The beauty trends weren’t all about taking the make-up up a notch, but also about stripping it down and baring it all – on your face that is! While you may think it takes a certain amount of confidence to rock the bare face look, fashion week taught us that with a few key tricks and products, you can make this effortless look into your own. For just a hint of an eye, I loved the naked eyes best seen at the Tommy Hilfiger show. There’s just a touch of barely there brown mascara at the base and everything else was clean, youthful, yet polished.

One of my favorite beauty looks during NYFW was the maroon eye. I was at first daunted about how out there and different this trend would be for me, but the final product blew me away – especially paired with a gold or yellow ensemble.

For my top hair trends from fashion week, I loved that the runways put natural hair center stage. Whether tight and curly or long and wavy, the backstage beauty experts showed us how to rock our natural hair both on and off the runway. For those of us who like a little more drama, I loved the tight, high ponytails best seen at the Nicholas K show. This wasn’t any ordinary ponytail. Keep the gel at hand to hold down those flyaways and layer your rubber bands for some extra height.
